The ANCC nursing professional development board certification exam is a competency-based exam that assesses entry-level clinical knowledge and skills of registered nurses in the nursing professional development specialty. ANPD has resources to help you earn your Board Certification (NPD-BC) credential.
Certification Preparation Courses
ANPD offers three ways to complete a certification preparation course as you study for your NPD-BC exam.

Each course is designed and taught by experts in the nursing professional development specialty. Whether you choose to attend one of our live offerings or prefer the self-paced online option, ANPD’s Certification Preparation Courses are designed to increase your nursing professional development knowledge and increase your exam readiness.
Live Certification Preparation Courses
These hands-on, multi-day courses are intended to increase your understanding of nursing professional development and help you prepare for the NPD certification exam offered by ANCC. The curriculum covers the major domains of practice found in the board certification exam:
- Educational Process Standards
- Leadership
- Ethical, Legal and Regulatory Standards
- Evidence-Based Practice and Research
- Technology
- Program/Project Management and Process Improvement
You’ll also have an opportunity to take a practice exam, with a test provided before and after the course to test your knowledge.

Virtual Certification Prep Course
From the comfort of your home or office!
These live classes are delivered virtually and are facilitated by NPD experts. Be immersed in interactive education and engaging discussions with colleagues. This is the only certification preparation course that offers the opportunity to connect live with expert instructors in the convenience of a virtual format.
The course is offered in two schedules: one afternoon class per week for four consecutive weeks or daily afternoon classes for four consecutive days. Choose which one best fits your schedule and needs from our current offerings.

In-Person Joint-Provided Course
We come to you!
This two full-day course provides the same content and expertise as the virtual option with an opportunity to meet face-to-face with colleagues. These courses are joint-provided with a local institution or ANPD affiliate to bring the expert-led course right to you.
