Call for ANPD Board of Directors

ANPD is seeking passionate NPD leaders to serve on the Board of Directors. This is your opportunity to bring your experience and vision to the table while helping guide the future of ANPD and advance the specialty of nursing professional development. If you're ready to make a lasting impact on the profession and your peers, we encourage you to step forward and serve.

There are currently four (4) open positions on the ANPD Board of Directors. Click the open positions below to learn more about requirements and expectations for each role.:

One (1) President-Elect Position

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

Current regular membership in ANPD
A minimum of five years' experience in the field of nursing professional development (NPD)

Expectations

Estimated time expectation 2-6 hours per week.
Attendance at full national convention; including moderating and introducing speakers at general sessions
Attendance at a Fall in-person BOD meeting in Chicago, IL OR Washington D.C. at the ANPD Headquarters
Participate in monthly BOD calls and BOD meetings
Serve as BOD liaison to ANPD committees and task forces as needed and participate in monthly calls
Participate as a member or chair for ANPD BOD projects
Rotating attendance at the ANA Assembly in Washington D.C. (attendance covered by ANPD)
Rotating attendance at the NOA Annual Conference (attendance covered by ANPD)

Three (3) Director Positions

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

Current regular membership in ANPD
A minimum of five years' experience in the field of nursing professional development (NPD)

Expectations

Estimated time expectation of two to six hours per week.
Attendance at full national convention; including moderating and introducing speakers at general sessions
Attendance at a Fall in-person BOD meeting in Chicago, IL OR Washington D.C. at the ANPD Headquarters
Participate in monthly BOD calls and BOD meetings
Serve as BOD liaison to ANPD committees and task forces as needed and participate in monthly calls
Participate as a member or chair for ANPD BOD projects
Rotating attendance at the ANA Assembly in Washington D.C. (attendance covered by ANPD)

Board of Directors

ANPD is a member-driven organization led by a Board of Directors, comprised of a President, President-Elect, Treasurer, and five Directors. These leadership roles are integral in shaping the future of ANPD. Visit the ANPD Bylaws for more information about the Board and the elected officer's responsibilities.

Every year, the ANPD Board of Directors holds a business meeting to update members on the state of the association.

Committees

ANPD’s committees and task forces are working groups of dedicated volunteers who contribute time and effort to achieving annual goals. ANPD leadership appoints the chair and chair-elect of the committees. Committee work is integral to the fulfillment of ANPD’s strategic goals. Please consider serving on a committee to get involved, grow your network, and share your expertise. Innovation Committee

Chair: Emily Crossen, PhD, RN, NPD-BC

Formerly known as the Education Committee, the Innovation Committee conducts robust environmental scanning to inform educational programming for our membership. The committee aligns with the Inputs and Throughputs of our NPD Practice Model. It plays a vital role in reviewing needs assessment data, defining gaps in NPD practice, and brainstorming recommendations and strategies to close gaps in NPD practice. The Innovation Committee is responsible for determining the annual webinar series topics and speaker selection, recommending subject matter experts, and brainstorming innovative ways to meet the needs of the NPD community through educational products and services.

Implementation Committee

Chair: Diana Kott, MSN, RN, OCN, NPD-BC

Formerly known as the Products & Services Committee, the Implementation Committee leverages the creative input of the Innovation Committee and products of SMEs to execute the Throughputs of our NPD Practice Model. This committee is responsible for reviewing content from subject matter experts, piloting educational products, and annually updating the Clinical Education Matrix—an invaluable tool for NPD practitioners.

Nominating Committee

Chair: Sheila St. Cyr, MSN, RN, NPC-BC

The Nominating Committee is a five-member committee of volunteers appointed by the Board of Directors and nominates eligible candidates for the Board of Directors. The Committee will develop a slate of qualified candidates from nominations submitted for consideration for the Board of Directors.

Recognition Committee

Chair: Laura Proctor, MS, RN, NPD-BC, MEDSURG-BC

The Recognition Committee reviews submissions and selects recipients of awards and scholarships offered by ANPD. Award winners are selected based on an individual’s achievements and contributions to ANPD. Scholarship winners are selected based on an individual’s need for funding and level of engagement. The 2016-2017 Recognition Committee updated the ANPD Awards to align with the fourth edition of the NPD Scope and Standards.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee

Chair: Vanessa Cameron, MSN, NPD-BC, CEN, CN

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is committed to establishing an environment of inclusivity. We strive to demonstrate and share respectful and equitable practice through the following goals:

Identify underrepresented audiences and enrich our understanding of their perspectives
Lead ANPD toward incorporating diversity and develop inclusive processes and practices
Environmental scanning to identify professional development needs
Identify professional resources to address practice gaps

Convention Content Planning Committee

Chair: Melissa Liu, MN, NPD-BC, NEA-BC

The Convention Content Planning Committee members have the exciting opportunity to provide input on our Annual Convention topics, speakers, format, and activities. The committee reviews submitted abstracts for presentations and poster sessions and participates in each session's selection. Members are required to attend the convention they assist in planning, where they moderate sessions and serve as a point of contact for attendee inquiries.

Finance Committee

Chair: Jenny Harshman, MSN, RN, NPC-BC, CPN

The finance committee consists of members of the Board of Directors who oversee the annual budget development and monitor ANPD’s finances monthly.

Editorial Committee

Chair: Bridget Remel, MSN, APRN, NEA-BC, AGCNS-BC, NPD-BC

The Editorial Committee supports the execution of high-value content for NPD In Motion, the official content hub of ANPD. The Committee will ensure that ANPD is providing content that serves to support the NPD community in their continuing professional development career, while relaying valuable industry insights.

NPD in Motion, the digital content hub of ANPD, seeks volunteer writers on topics relevant to the NPD professional journey. Submit your article or reach out to editors@anpd.org to learn more.
