Definition of Best Practice
Best
practice is the result of an organizational service, function, or
process which, when applied to a particular setting, achieves the
desired outcome and/or meets or exceeds a benchmark for a standard.
By
explanation, we offer that a best practice must be validated
empirically by several organizations and results contributed to the
literature in order to be considered evidence-based practice.
To be considered for a Best Practice Profile, nursing staff development best practices had to meet five criteria. The ultimate decision to publish a best practice submission was based upon the five criterion determined to characterize a best practice, an evaluation by the ANPD Best Practices Committee, ANPD's organizational priorities and the duplication of ideas currently published in the Best Practices Exchange.
