Best Practices drive the profession forward.

Together we can shape the future; together we can enhance the body of knowledge available to professional development specialists.

PLEASE NOTE: Best Practice submissions are no longer being accepted. We encourage utilization of the ANPD Discussion Forum to share and discuss Best Practices in NPD.

Definition of Best Practice
Best practice is the result of an organizational service, function, or process which, when applied to a particular setting, achieves the desired outcome and/or meets or exceeds a benchmark for a standard.

By explanation, we offer that a best practice must be validated empirically by several organizations and results contributed to the literature in order to be considered evidence-based practice.

To be considered for a Best Practice Profile, nursing staff development best practices had to meet five criteria. The ultimate decision to publish a best practice submission was based upon the five criterion determined to characterize a best practice, an evaluation by the ANPD Best Practices Committee, ANPD's organizational priorities and the duplication of ideas currently published in the Best Practices Exchange.
