Target Audience:  RNs: All RNs, NPD specialists, Nurse Leaders, Academic Nurse Educators and Leaders

Description: Although federal funding is available for physician and pharmacist residencies, no such funding exists for nursing transition to practice programs. The IOM Future of Nursing Report (2010) calls for HRSA and CMS to fund the development of nurse residencies. This webinar provides a historical overview of efforts to obtain funding and the policy implications for future efforts to obtain federal funding for nurse residencies. 

Objectives:

  • Describe the process for applying for pass through dollars from CMS for nurse residency programs.
  • Discuss the need for accreditation of nurse residency programs in relation to obtaining pass through dollars from CMS.
  • Delineate current nurse residency challenges for assuring quality.

Continuing Education:

The Association for Nursing Professional Development is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

This webinar discusses the global resurgence of interest in interprofessional education and collaborative practice, the state of interprofessional practice and education research, and the research agenda for the National Center for Interprofessional Practice & Education.

  • Describe the current state of interprofessional practice, research, and education.
  • Discuss the role of the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education in filling a decades-long gap linking interprofessional education, collaborative practice, and big-picture outcomes.
  • Identify the current position of the National Academies of Medicine (formerly IOM) on interprofessional education and collaborative practice research.
