Get Involved with ANPD

ANPD’s committees and task forces are working groups comprised of dedicated volunteers who contribute time and effort to achieving annual goals. The chair and chair-elect of the committees are appointed by ANPD leadership. Committee work is integral to the fulfillment of ANPD’s strategic goals. Please consider serving on a committee to get involved, grow your network and share your expertise. Formerly known as the Education Committee, the Innovation Committee conducts robust environmental scanning to inform educational programming for our membership. The committee aligns with the Inputs and Throughputs of our NPD Practice Model and plays an important role in reviewing needs assessment data, defining gaps in NPD practice, and brainstorming recommendations and strategies to close gaps in NPD practice. The Innovation Committee is responsible for determining the annual webinar series topics and speaker selection, recommending subject matter experts, and brainstorming innovative ways to meet the needs of the NPD community through educational products and services.

Task Forces

Diversity Task Force

ANPD is committed to establishing and sustaining a diverse and inclusive environment. We encourage members under the age of 40 years; working in practice areas outside of acute inpatient settings; men; members of underrepresented groups including racial or ethnic backgrounds; and veterans to apply for ANPD positions. The goals of the Diversity Task Force are to:

  • Identify underrepresented audiences and enrich understanding of the perspectives of those members
  • Lead ANPD toward embracing cultural/racial/gender/generational diversity and develop supportive processes and practices

Multisite Leader Task Force

The Multisite Leader Task Force was formed in recognition of the emerging role of the NPD leader in hospital systems. The task force is developing a role delineation study to identify the competencies needed by this executive level NPD leader.

Advanced NPD Certification Steering Task Force and Workgroups

NPD specialists have convened to develop policies and procedures for an advanced nursing professional development certification by portfolio. The steering task force identifies additional work groups to oversee specific development processes.
