Target Audience: Professional development team members, nursing professional development (NPD) practitioners, and human resource personnel
Description: NPD practitioners may be required to defend their practice and the competencies they develop. In addition to evidence-based practice, competencies must be in alignment with state nurse practice acts and specialty nursing scope and standards. Knowing where to find the information and how to incorporate the information into practice is imperative. This session explores the NPD practitioner’s legal responsibility, types of lawsuits, how to locate scope of practice information and how to use this information when developing competencies.
Outcome: 65% of participants will report that this session provides information that enhances, validates, or causes a change in practice.
